The Artist Legacy Project
Supported in part by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the Artist Legacy Project provides estate planning services and related legal services (including wills, powers of attorney, living wills and health care proxies) to artists with HIV/AIDS at no charge to them. This legal assistance ensures that artistic legacies are preserved and that artists will be able to maintain control over the final disposition of their work. VLA, in recent years, expanded the Artist Legacy Project to provide free access to its other legal services and discounted member rates for its educational services to artists with HIV/AIDS and arts organizations with HIV/AIDS-related missions to address their emergency and other arts-related legal matters.

New in Fiscal Year 2004-05: Expanded Artist Legacy Project Services
In 2005, VLA expanded its services under the Artist Legacy Project by developing and offering an important new educational program for artists (and for attorneys who wish to learn more about advising their artist clients) on wills, trusts and estates. VLA’s new Estate Planning for Artists program was conceptualized and developed by VLA Board and Executive Committee member, S. Jeanne Hall, Esq., of Fulton, Rowe & Hart.
