VLA celebrates the contributions of Volunteer Attorneys, Pro Bono Coordinators, Law Firms, and Corporate supporters bi-annually at our Summer and Fall Benefits. Our Board of Directors and the entire organization are proud to recognize the extraordinary efforts of our volunteers who donate legal services worth millions of dollars to the New York arts community each year.
VLA's 2005 Fall Benefit was held at New York’s newest museum, The Rubin Museum of Art. This year, VLA presented the Arts Visionary Award 2005 to Andres Serrano and The Lucille Lortel Foundation. Additionally, VLA celebrated 37 years of service to the New York arts community.
VLA honored its Outstanding Volunteer Attorneys at our 2005 Summer Event, which was held at the Lehmann Maupin Gallery on Tuesday, June 7, 2005. This evening presented a great opportunity for our volunteer attorneys and summer associates to experience the multi-faceted cultural life of New York City while supporting a great cause – VLA.
VLA's 2004 Fall Benefit treated guests to a cocktail party and the opportunity to preview the exhibition of Christie's 19th Century Paintings Sale. Honored Guests included VLA Arts Visionary 2004 Award winner Paula Cooper, the presenter of this award, Michael A. Cardozo, Corporation Counsel, New York City Law Department and Kate Levin the Commissioner of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
